The Women in Action Development Project survives on donations to stay in operation. Your contributions, whatever the amount, help to go a long way! Here are some of goals we have in mind when funding Esther's project:
1) Offsetting Annual Operating Costs: Presently it takes about 50,000 US dollars a year to operate the Women in Action Development Project. That includes school supplies, uniforms, upkeep of the building, rent on the building, payment for teaching staff, and power costs. We would like to not only help offset these costs to keep the school free for participants, but also help to channel funds into expansion projects:
2) Expansion Projects: Esther's vision goes beyond the current school. In the works Esther has plans for several other new facilities and programs including:
a) Student Scholarship Program helping to fund post-secondary education of her graduates
b) A Child education program called the "Kiddies Foundation Program"
c) A daycare center that would provide an opportunity for women in Freetown (Sierra Leone's capital city) who would typically stay at home to care for children to go to work or school during the day.
d) A satellite campus of Women in Action in the rural areas surrounding Freetown
e) A plot of farmland to grow crops as a source of funding for the school (PURCHASED JULY 2017!)
